Can be combined with the redstone door.
Will keep out all of those ground walkers

      The sticky pistons are placed on the side and holding the stairs. the pistons are connected with redstone and when the lever is pulled all of the pistons push the stairs into the space

    basically jazzibee if you pull a lever/press a button the steps will move in or out :)
